Cajun Industries based in Baton Rouge, will develop a world-class module assembly yard at the Port of Iberia. The facility will feature 61 acres, with 33 acres developed during the first phase. Developments include stabilization effects achieving a ground gearing pressure of 2,500 PSF and critical infrastructure improvements to support 600 craft.
Cajun Industries is a nationally recognized construction company providing fully integrated self-performed EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) services to some of the largest and reknown companies in the world.
The Port of Iberia having direct access to the Gulf of Mexico via the Acadiana Gulf of Mexico Access Channel (AGMAC) was instrumental in Cajun’s site selection. Not only will Cajun be able to accommodate modules shipped via water, but they will be able to ship large, truck-able modules as well via US Hwy. 90. Craig Romero, Port of Iberia Executive Director, stated the Cajun’s facility will be a boost to the Acadiana economy. “Cajun expects to employ more than 600 skilled workers, including crane operators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and welders. We’re very excited about having them at the Port of Iberia.”
